Meet The Team
Darryn Patterson
Owner, LBP
After spending several years project managing, overseeing other licensed building practitioners and providing labour-only services for many complicated, architectural builds throughout Auckland and surrounding districts, Darryn Patterson founded Frontier Construction in 2008.
The very first project Frontier Construction undertook won a Gold Award at the Master Builder’s House of the Year Awards.
A born and bred West Aucklander, Darryn is the first to tell you he is motivated by people telling him he can’t do something. That merely presents him with the challenge to find a way to do it, which is why he is so good at thinking outside the box.
Darryn started his building apprenticeship at age 17, before taking off on his big OE at 21. While travelling in Australia and North America, Darryn shore 1,000s of sheep, drove road trains, mustered, worked on cattle ranches and maintained waterholes with diggers and bulldozers. He then settled in Whangarei before moving back to Auckland a ‘married grown-up’ in 2011. Now the father of three, he loves family time, yet still manages to fit in mountain biking, a bit of hunting and maintaining 30 beehives in gardens around Massey.
Diane Dobson
Office Manager
Diane joined the company in 2023 and comes from an extensive background with-in the building industry, having working for both design/ architectural and construction companies.
The systems, processes and job management software she has implemented since coming to work with us have improved our business processes, allowing us to provide clearer quotes, keep accurate records, reduce paperwork and improve our administrative efficiencies overall. We’d be lost without her.
When she isn’t spending time with her family, potting about in the garden or baking up a storm in the kitchen, Diane is planning her next travel adventure.
