Our building process

Not all builders in Auckland are the same and neither are their building processes. After 20 odd years, we have the experience, knowledge, and proven project management skills to make building less daunting for you. Our process makes building an exciting, enjoyable journey, not a stressful nightmare. Build with us and we’ll show you the Frontier way so you can leave the stress to us.

Contact

Investing the time to truly understand your building project is what it’s all about. We’ll work with you to share your vision, establish what you dream house is to be and then develop the design and build solutions to suit. Communication is the key to any successful project, so after an initial phone call, you’ll meet with Darryn Patterson on site to discuss your plans further. This is where we need to hear what is important to you: your wants and your needs and budget expectations. This consultation will help clarify timelines and how your vision and our expertise will make your dream home happen. We will advise on site implications, council planning rules, submission, and design stages.

Design Process

If you are unclear on what you want exactly, you have a dream but no plan, or you’re unsure as to what you’re allowed to do and the costings, that’s fine, simply bring us your vision.

We are a one-stop shop for building new homes and renovations, from consulting, design, the consent process through to the finished build. We have built for clients who have brought us photos of homes they’ve spotted around Auckland or images and ideas from the Internet, TV, or magazines, and we’ve brought them to life.

We have a fabulous team of architects, planners, and engineers we have brought together over the years who can draw up a full set of working plans and we can then submit these to council on your behalf. 

Once we have covered the basic requirements, we will either work up preliminary concept design with our architectural team, or yours, and get your plans ready to be submitted to council. 

The stages of design include an initial pricing guide before we move on to the final concept design, pricing, resource consent application costs and building consent application costs.

3.

Pricing

Once we’ve got the working drawings for your new house build or renovations signed off, plans go to our QS (Quantity Surveyor) for a transparent, comprehensive costing for the project as a whole.

This scope of works covers everything: engineers, estimated council costs, and all sub-contractors and tradies. We will prepare a formal estimate and we offer both charge-up or comprehensive fixed-price options for all builds. 

4.

Council

When we have agreed on your budget and have a full set of drawings, plans are submitted to council. When you supply us with plans we have not been involved with, we can review those plans for you prior to submitting to the council. This will allow us to suggest any changes or modifications to help your budget, timeline, and overall finish. We will be the initial point of contact with council, respond to any requests for additional information and get consent approval on your behalf.

5.

Construction

After consent has been passed, Darryn will be your main point of contact at all times. He will oversee the project management and provide weekly scheduled reports. Throughout your build, we will involve you in all key aspects at our onsite meetings, going through the build plan which shows when work will be carried out. This streamlines the construction process and keeps you up to date on progress.

6.

Completion

Frontier Construction will work with you right through to final inspection and Darryn will walk you through each room or space and show you how the Frontier Construction team brought your house plans to life. We will also complete CCC (Code of Compliance). We want you to really love your new space. Client satisfaction is our absolute number one priority.

Based in Massey, we work mainly in West Auckland and the North Shore but have also been involved with creating beautiful homes in Greenhithe, Mt Eden, Gillies Ave, Epsom, and right across central Auckland.
